🎄 As Christmas and the new year rapidly approaches, we’re excited to share the latest updates and milestones from Vipps MobilePay. In this edition, you’ll find news about our product launches, cross-border capabilities and more! 🚀

By the time this newsletter reaches you, Black Friday has come and gone, we’ve launched Tap to pay in Norway, and we’re preparing for the launch of Express Checkout on the ePayments API. All of this while planning the Facade API shutdown! For everything to go smoothly, we rely on your cooperation — and sometimes a bit of patience! Thank you for your collaboration and support throughout 2024! 💪

Our cross-border journey has hit several milestones this year. In June, all our users could send peer-to-peer payments to each other across borders, and on 24th of September we launched the Vipps app in Sweden! Over 60 000 Swedes have downloaded the Vipps app! 🇸🇪 We now have more than 250,000 cross-border transactions between users across all markets. 🚀

On December 4th, we hit another milestone: all 12 million users across the Nordics can now pay to your merchants! This means easier payments for merchants with customers from Norway, Denmark, Finland or Sweden, with no extra costs! If you're already using the ePayment integration or our Checkout - it just works automatically🪄. 

Merchants will continue with the same agreements and pricing. After the holidays, we'll share more details on how to make the most out of this new opportunity and inform the end users. 

Still on the old API? No worries, it's very, very easy to get started with our ePayments API or Checkout!

We believe our users will value only having to use one payment app for all their needs. With the launch of tapping, users can pay with Vipps almost everywhere. Tap to pay with Vipps works similarly to Apple Pay and Google Pay, where you hold your phone near the card terminal. Initially, it will only work with terminals accepting BankAxept cards and cards issued by Sparebank 1, DNB, and the Eika alliance. The cost is the same as a regular BankAxept card payment. We will continuously be adding more banks, international card and other solutions. 

What do businesses need to do to use Tap with Vipps? Nothing! Businesses can continue using the same acquiring agreement they have with BankAxept.

How will it affect other Vipps solutions? Tap to pay with Vipps is a crucial part of offering competitive solutions in all payment situations. However, it's not the whole picture. Solutions like in-app payments, in restaurants or with scan & pay in stores, will continue to grow and remain relevant. The same goes for solutions where you can join a loyalty program via the checkout with Vipps LogIn. It's essential for us to keep working with our partners for easier experiences for both instore employees and the customers.
